Please remember to use Dierbergs or Shop ‘N Save grocery coupons
or a Schnucks eScrip Community Card when buying groceries.
Remember that Schnucks has a new program which uses a eScrip Community
Card that is scanned by the cashier each time you shop at the store.
You don’t need to buy coupons in advance. If you don’t
already have a card, you can pick one up at any neighborhood Schnucks
grocery store service desk.
Participation is free to you and the school earns money while you
spend your normal amount at the grocery store.
If you have any questions about the program or need to buy please call
Deanne Hoerner at 725-7251 or Suzanne Buescher at 863-1167.
Our school has a new on-line store where you can buy embroidered CKS logo spirit items. Visit our new store at http://ctks.promoshop.com or click on the link in the menu on the school website pages. We have shirts, hats, blankets, chairs and more. Wear or use some items that will help spread the work about our great school. Take a look!

Annual Appeal Update:
Even during these tough economic times where everywhere one turns you hear the word “recession”, parishioners and alumni alike reached into their pockets and generously supported our Annual Appeal. It is with great pleasure to report the result of Christ the King’s 2007 Annual Appeal: $90,739* in contributions! Although we didn’t quite reach our goal, you more than surpassed expectations. Many, many thanks for your contributions!
We all know that operating costs continue to skyrocket. To put it bluntly, Annual Appeal monies keep Christ the King from operating in the red. Without it, we could not pay our bills or afford routine maintenance projects. 2007 Annual Appeal monies are earmarked to:
- Cover 10% increase in staff healthcare benefits
- Cover 4% increase in teacher and staff salaries
- Keep tuition increases to 3%, allowing more families’ to afford a Catholic education
- Update fire alarm system as required by University City code
- Provide support for Apollo Program
- Cover routine operating costs and maintenance projects that arise
- Operate with a small budget surplus
In addition, with Annual Appeal funds offsetting operating expenses, monies raised from parish and school fundraisers like Trivia Night, grocery coupons and the magazine drive are freed to target special projects like this year’s new playgrounds and future needs like additional SmartBoards and updated computers.
Rest assured, several indicators show that Christ the King parish is fiscally stable and healthy. The 2007 Annual Appeal was an immense success, thus allowing us to operate with a small budget surplus. In addition, we continue to register new parishioners, perform numerous baptisms, and our highly regarded school will welcome another large class of Kindergarteners in the fall.
If you haven’t donated yet and wish to help us reach the 2007 goal of $92,000, please give the parish rectory a call at 721-8737!
*Updated 7/24/2008: $91,307 in pledges, $89,405 received.
