As we enter into this Thanksgiving week I wanted to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to you, reflecting on what I observe: your love for CTK, your faithfulness to its mission, your generous and welcoming spirit, your care for one another, your joy evident in the many gatherings we attend, your commitment to our neighborhood and to University City.
These are gifts that are rich and inviting, lifegiving and positive. We must not take them for granted. So, as we approach Thanksgiving we have much to be grateful for and to build upon. The first 90 years of life in this parish have laid a firm foundation for us to continue building up the Kingdom of God in the heart of University City. May we be the heart of the community as we celebrate the opportunities and the gifts which God has entrusted to us for the furthering of His Kingdom.
Please join us for 9:00 a.m. Mass on Thanksgiving Day as we take a moment to give glory to God for all that is and all that shall be.
Next, we have a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our 90 year heritage with the “Mass Mob” and birthday party on the Solemnity of Christ the King, Sunday, November 26, at the 10:00 a.m. mass. Bishop Michael Sheridan, Fr Tim Foley, and Fr John Ditenhafer (if his health allows), all of our former living pastors, will join us. Sr Rosella and other Sisters of Mercy hope to be in attendance. Mark Reynoso and former choir members and school teachers have also been invited. Call your former parishioner neighbors and invite them back for the celebration.
Together, we will celebrate Christ the King reigning in our lives!
