Parish Council

The Parish Council is an advisory council that assists the pastor.  The Parish Council is the permanent flexible structure for constructive dialogue and cooperation among the priests and laity of the parish.  It is the apostolic vehicle through which representatives of Christ the King Parish, in communion with one another, meet to deliberate and decide, in common agreement, those matters for which they are responsible, as a pastoral team.  Specific responsibilities include:

  •  Listening to and representing the needs and concerns of all parishioners.

  •  Providing leadership and direction to the parish and its organizations and ministries.

  •  Deliberating and deciding the direction of the parish, including whether to join new organizations, create new positions and approving the budget.

The Parish Council's primary role is to assist in deliberating, deciding and leading the parish to fulfill its mission.  Over the years, however, the Parish Council has often sponsored events when the Council determines there is a need, including sponsoring welcome receptions, stewardship Sundays, blood drives, retreats, faith talks, strategic plan process, MCU listening campaign, and organizing parish-wide celebrations.

Liturgy Committee

The Liturgy Committee assists the Pastor in preparation of the liturgy and other prayer services. The committees of the Liturgy Committee are: Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist Lectors; Servers; Hospitality/Greeters/Ushers; Sacristans; Catholic Education and Formation; and Choir.

Respect Life Committee

The Respect Life Committee promotes education and work for the sanctity of life, especially the most innocent and vulnerable among us, especially the unborn threatened by abortion.

The Finance Committee is composed of seven to nine parish members that have been appointed by the pastor.  Appointees typically have demonstrated business/financial management and professional skills.   The Finance Committee does not have decision making authority rut rather is a consultative group whose primary role is to provide guidance and assistance to the Pastor in executing parish financial responsibilities.

The Finance Committee assists with budgeting and planning, financial reporting to the parish, and assists in the oversight/auditing of parish bookkeeping.

The CKS Finance Committee meets 4 to 6 times per year.

Parish Facilities Committee

In May 2013, the Parish Council established the Parish Facilities Committee (PFC) to address current and future issues involving Parish facilities. This includes both existing and potential facilities, other than maintenance projects and routine matters handled by the Buildings and Grounds Committee.  Members of the PFC include two representatives each from Parish Council, School Board, and the Parish at-large, and one each from Buildings & Grounds and the Finance Committee, plus our Pastor. The PFC’s initial focus is on security issues, accessibility to facilities, improved utilization of existing spaces, and providing adequate space for current and future Parish missions and school programs.  The PFC will be using both internal and external resources in developing strategies to address these matters.  Alvan Sage is serving as president of the committee.
